The Visionary Journey For a long time, Juan José Salomón—widely known as Capitán Docky—traveled as a wanderer, navigating solo through the most iconic waters of El Salvador: the Gulf of Fonseca, El Tamarindo, Jiquilisco Bay, the Lempa River, and the Jaltepeque Estuary. During these journeys, a community of friends began to gather, together laying the groundwork for what would become the modern history of kayaking in the country.
Finding a Home As the movement grew, so did a critical need: a home base. We needed a fixed location where adventurers could gather and set sail. After an extensive search, we crossed paths with Ceci Barba. It was a meeting of like-minded souls; sharing a similar philosophy on life and business, we decided to transform her property into the official base of operations for Docky Kayak. While both brands maintained their independent identities, we established a model of integral cooperation that redefined the local experience.
Humble Beginnings, Lasting Friendship Our journey began at Lago Aventura with just three used kayaks and a handful of people enjoying what was then a budding industry. Those early days were filled with incredible moments, great challenges, and big dreams. What started as a partnership grew into a profound friendship that remains as strong today as it was at the beginning.
